For some background to today’s piece, we need to take a step or 12 back in time to about this time last year when UK was awash with US media generated misinformation propaganda aimed at Chinese products on the UK market. In particular, the so called “Smart ” appliances.
According to CNN, AP and the gang, Britain shoppers should not buy Chinese smart goods (including EV) as each one was calling home with personal information.
This partly backfired as social media was quickly flooded with memes and sarcastic comments, such as:
“Oh my God Xijingping knows what I have on my toast in the morning!” Or
“Horrors, the communist party knows how many cups of coffee I drink!”
Similar jokes circulated re washing machines and dirty laundry, refrigerators and cold food and LED light bulbs in the bedroom ( we will leave you to think about the connections there~). Perhaps the aim was to frighten consumers into buying more US made products as they, conveniently, forgot to mention that they too would be phoning home.

However, this heading recently made us wonder if at least one market segment might have thrown in the towel and be surrendering. Or, could it be the UK has realised they are now in a pickle and the US isn’t coming to help them?

We’re just wondering if he’s also included MG, Rover and Volvo - all Chinese owned brands – in that figure, not to mention those western marques who along with TESLA manufacturer in China for the export market.
We’re also reliably informed that the Scottish bus companies, First Bus and Stagecoach are, running EV buses made in China, as is London Transport and a few others to boot.
