To day we are taking a closer look at the auto industry in China.
Read more: 2022 Chengdu Auto ShowLast Friday we looked at the destructive weather currently making life difficult in China. In particular we looked at Sichuan Province and their colossal drought which is impacting not just grain farmers but businesses and home owners, as well.
Now we leave the morose, doom and gloom but stay in Sichuan. Chengdu in fact, the Capital city of Sichuan province.
Last week, August 26th saw the opening of the 25th Chengdu Motor Show, one of the top 4 auto shows in China. This year the event attracted around 128 makers, both Chinese and International, with a total of 1600 vehicles on display. China is still the global #1 auto market so competition at these shows is intense.
The burgeoning EV and NEV market in China has seen a new paint colour range on the streets. Something more like a solid enamel paint than the thin, acrylic of a few years back. Soft baby blue, lime green and a popular favourite -pink. With their “cute” design and bright colours, sometimes it is reminiscent of a child story book.
Again, following the trend from last week, we bring you a trilogy of links. The show runs until Sept 4th, so if you’re anywhere near Sichuan Province, do pop over for a first hand look.
If your business is auto related and you couldn’t make the show in person, we hope this weeks image gallery is helpful.

To end today, we look at an article from China Daily which details the increasing sales record of Chinese made EV’s in Europe. China’s vehicle exports hit 2 million in 2021, according to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Of those, around 500,000 units were passenger new energy vehicles, and half of them were shipped to European countries.
