Aim2 D: Raison d’être

Hello, welcome back for Thursday 14th October as China struggles back to work after a long 10 day (for some) China National Day holiday. While we were scouring the Internet recently we stumbled apon a story re China’s victory over the US in the supposed war of AI and her technical superiority. Now, for anyone who has spent more than 6 months in China since circa 2016 this is no real surprise. China is very much hi tech developed and driven and in some ways..

reminds me of “Snowball’s” dream of life after the windmill in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.” Technology has, along with the smart phone, QR code and various Apps, streamlined and made day to day, mundane tasks easier in China today. Simply point, scan and go! However, that is not to say we have reached Snowball’s Utopian world. Sadly, as is the case with most things humans invent to make life easier, such as the motor car, jet engine, atomic energy, social media, there is a down side.

Perhaps Orwell was correct in pointing out that our search for Utopia is fruitless. No different to searching for the end of the rainbow and a pot of gold. What humans create, humans also destroy. Despite changes, things stay the same. We are our own worst enemies. But we digress.

What really caught our eye was the “About Us” page on the site in question. Whilst we squirm a little at the tag: “Alternative News Media” that is sometimes hung on Aim2D, this self description from “Wolf Daily” struck a chord with us, despite it being largely US centric news.
