Hello, we don’t have a category for “art or creativity” [maybe we should?] so we will list this under technology. The event is a little old now, back in 2020, but was only recently confirmed and released as an article by the Guinness Book of Records last week – Feb 11th 2021.
A week out from Christmas last year, 2020, a group of students from China’s Tianjin University teamed up with China drone producer EFYI Group set the record for the longest aerial animation performed by an unmanned vehicle.
The “Theme” or background to this night time event was the life story of impressionist paint Vincent Van Gogh. The event featured many of Van Gogh’s painting’s including of course, very fittingly; Starry Night.”
The performance or artistic installation involved 600 drones and lasted 26 minutes 19 seconds. setting a new word record. More details on the behind the scenes activity can be found at the Guinness Book of Records site. There is also a Youtube video worthy of attention. As always be aware YouTube is not technically available in China.
Tianjin is a port city some 20 minutes high speed train trip from Beijing. Well worth a visit for its cuisine, history and architecture.
